Wood raft

Wood raft

Kon-Tiki

You must feel honoured!
The year is 1947 and you are travelling with the famous explorer Thor Heyerdal.
His Kon-Tiki Expedition is ready to depart.
Kon-Tiki is a wooden raft, built of nine balsa logs.
Ahead of you lies 7000 kilometres of sailing.
After 3 months you will hopefully reach Polynesia.

Kon-Tiki is named after the sun god of the Incas.
The Incas lived in South America.
It is believed that the Incas used to cross the Pacific Ocean on rafts like Kon-Tiki.

Just like the Incas you bring no food on your journey.
You will live on what you can catch, such as fish, prawns and crabs.
Hopefully you are a good fisherman.

It is time to get the raft in the water.
It is time to cross the Pacific Ocean.
