Students in Denmark are to be allowed full access to the internet in their final school exams. The government is currently piloting the new system of exams, which will be open to all Danish schools from 2011. Students can access any sites they like, including Facebook, but may not message or email anyone.According to the BBC, Denmark has 'traditionally embraced modern technology', and students there have been able to use computers in exams for the past decade. The Danish Minister for Education, Bertel Haarder, explained: "Our exams have to reflect daily life in the classroom and daily life in the classroom has to reflect life in society. The internet is indispensable, including in the exam situation. I'm sure that is would be a matter of very few years [sic] when most European countries will be on the same line."
