OED Online Word of the Day: pumpkinification, n. (31/10 2011)
Etymology: < pumpkin n. + -ification suffix, after Hellenistic Greek ἀποκολοκύντωσις transformation into a pumpkin ( < ancient Greek ἀπο- apo- prefix + κολοκύνθη pumpkin, of uncertain origin + -ωσις -osis suffix, after Hellenistic Greek ἀποθέωσις apotheosis n.), the title of a travesty (ascribed to Seneca) of the apotheosis of the Roman emperor Claudius Caesar.

Talentforløb i gymnasierne - eksemplariske forløb til inspiration for sprogfagene (31/10 2011)
Siden januar 2011 har fem arbejdsgrupper udviklet eksemplariske forløb til styrkelse af talentfulde elever i de gymnasiale uddannelser. Her finder du resultaterne af deres arbejde.

Reader Idea - A Class on the Media and Society (29/10 2011)
- As an elective, I teach a class a class titled Social Criticism. This class is open to juniors and seniors and is intended to help students understand the impact that the media has on today's culture.
- In this class, we analyze social structures and aim to come up with practical solutions to problems presented today. Through the use of reaction articles and books like "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," we tackle and conduct class discussions on topics present in today's society. Evaluation is conducted through participation and written responses to articles and texts.
- I use The New York Times to find articles that are pertinent and interesting to my students.
- First, I give them an article to read at home. Then, in class, they fill out dialogue sheets (PDF) on which they write a brief summary of the article along with main points, their emotional reaction, the value of the article and any questions they have about the topic. The next day, we use their dialogue sheets as a basis for an all-class discussion.
